Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, continue to fight with the rebel Varden against Galbatorix’s Empire. Paolini’s series is satisfying high fantasy and this volume will please fans. Eragon mounts a rescue of Katrina, his foster-brother’s fiance. Then he becomes enmeshed in Dwarf politics, visits the elves and acquires the perfect sword, and returns to the Varden in time for an epic battle. Paolini reveals more secrets of Eragon’s parents’ past, as well as, the source of Galbatorix’s power.

One must begin the series at the beginning, but this is another satisfying installment in the Inheritance series. 763p., 2008.
